Charles Middleberg, Holocaust Witness and exceptional narrator of our film, A STRING OF PEARLS: The Small Miracles of Charles Middleberg, passed away on December 22, 2023, surrounded by all his family.* 

On December 8th Charles came to a screening of A STRING of PEARLS at Alliance Francaise de Philadelphie. With a sparkle in his eye, he took both my hands and asked me, “What can I do to help?!”

True to his word, he never ceased his energetic efforts to get out the word to youths, not to hate.

When I, originally, arranged with Charles to interview him in December of 2019, he drove himself over to Philadelphia from New Jersey. As he drove off later with his characteristic smile, neither of us knew that the pandemic would shortly preclude a follow up in-person interview. And yet, that one hour + taping began a years-long collaboration to put his extraordinary stories on film.

Charles Middleberg, a dear friend, a great and joyous man and a great inspiration to all, forever.
